Marriage plays a very important role in the lives of most adults; it gives meaning to people’s lives. Thus, the existence of conflicts can be threatening. These conflicts can increase mental rumination of anger and decrease marital virtues. The present study was conducted to investigate the effectiveness of emotion-based cognitive-behavioral therapy in the mental rumination of anger and marital virtues. The statistical population included couples with marital conflicts referring to the family counseling centers of Alshatar. The sample size included three couples, who were voluntarily selected and underwent emotional-based cognitive-behavioral couple therapy. In this research, a single-case design with multiple baselines was used. The emotion-based cognitive-behavioral couple therapy protocol was implemented during fifteen 60-minute intervention sessions, and the participants responded to the Anger Rumination Scale (Suchodolsky et al., 2001), Marital Virtues Scale (Fawcett et al., 2013), and Marital Conflict Scale (Sanaei, 2000). The data were analyzed by visual drawing method, stable change index, and recovery percentage formula. The findings of the study showed that the stable changes in the variable of mental rumination of anger in three couples were 2.71, 2.06, and 3.28 and in the variable of marital virtues were 2.76, 3.45, and 2.16. In addition, the recovery rates in the post-treatment phase in the variable of mental rumination of anger were 41.98, 33.80, and 41.00 with the mean of 38.92, and in the variable of marital virtues were 51.02, 45.20, and 54.71 with the mean of 50.31, which was included in the spectrum of successful treatment. Therefore, this research showed that emotion-based cognitive-behavioral couple therapy was effective in reducing mental rumination of anger and increasing marital virtues. Therefore, it can be used to reduce mental rumination of anger and increase marital virtues.

Desire for divorce is the degree of desire and interest of couples to separate and break the marital relationship. In studying the causes of divorce, consideration of individual and psychological causes, including desire for divorce is of particular importance. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of integrated Gottman-Emotional focused )GEF( and Strategic-Solution focused (SSF) approaches on decreasing desire for divorce in couples applying for agreed divorce. For this purpose, six couples (12 persons) were selected among all couples referring to counseling centers in Poledokhtar city in 2018. In this research, a single-case experimental design of a multiple baseline was used. The GEF and SSF treatment protocols were implemented in two to four stages of the baseline, eight to ten intervention sessions and three follow up steps. couples responded to divorce desire questionnaire (DDQ) (Rosbult et al, 1986). The results showed that the rate of improvement in the variable of desire for divorce in the group of GEF approach in the post-treatment and follow-up stages was 53.04 and 65% and in the group of SSF approach, 42.98 and 76/51%, in other words, both approaches had a significant effect on the goals of the treatment. Therefore, it can be concluded that in order to reduce the desire for divorce in couples applying for divorce, it is possible to use both integrated Gottman-Emotional focused and integrated Strategic-Solution focused approaches in treatment and consulting sessions.

The Emotionally-Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) and the Integrated Behavioral Couples Therapy (IBCT)are among the treatments that are focused on negative interactional cycles. The current study was conducted aiming at determining the effectiveness of the EFCT and the IBCT on restructuring communication patterns in couples with marital conflict. The statistical population of the study consisted of all couples referring to Mehravaran clinic in Ahvaz. 6 couples were selected using purposeful sampling based on their scores in the Dyadic Adjustment Scale (DAS) regarded as distressed couples. In this study, the non-congruent multiple baseline experimental single case was used. The EFCT and IBCT protocols were carried out in two to four stages of the base line, 16 one-hour intervention sessions were held and, after a two-month follow-up. The subjects completed the Communication Patterns Questionnaire (CPQ). Data were analyzed using visual inspect, reliable change index and the formula of improvement percentage. Findings showed that the rate of the improvement in the variable of communication patterns in the Emotionally-Focused Couple Therapy group at the post-treatment and follow-up stages were 50.66 and 53.27 % and 38.80% and 41.21% for the Couple Integrated Behavioral group. Therefore, the research findings showed that Emotionally-Focused Couples Therapy and the Integrated Behavioral Couples Therapy are effective on the restructuring and improvement communication patterns of the couples through changing the negative interactive cycles.
